Recently, Arizona signed into law HOUSE BILL 2550 which removes the licensure requirement from being an esthetician in order to perform Eyelash Services in Arizona.
What You'll Need to Get Started – Documents, Requirements & Fees
1. Fees The fees for eyelash technician registration, renewal, and delinquent renewal are determined by the Arizona Barbering and Cosmetology Board (Board) during the rulemaking process.
2. Qualifications To provide eyelash extension services, you must possess an eyelash technician registration from the Board. Here’s what you’ll need to do:
* Submit an eyelash technician application form to the Board.
*Show evidence that you meet one of the following criteria:
– Completed and received credit for at least two years of high school education, or its equivalent, and are at least 16 years old; or
– Are at least 18 years old.
*Provide evidence of completing a Board-approved training program that results in 30 hours of education. Board-approved training programs must temporarily register students. Training programs do not have to be licensed schools to be approved by the Board.
* Submit the required fee.
3. Prior Training Individuals with proof of eyelash extension training before April 3, 2023, may receive an eyelash technician registration.
4. Registration Renewal Registration must be renewed by the eyelash technician on or before their birthday every two years. A renewal application, along with the required fee, must be sent to the Board. If the registration isn’t renewed, a delinquent renewal fee, in addition to the renewal fee, may be required. The Board tracks all registered eyelash technicians in good standing.
5. Disciplinary Action Eyelash technicians receive disciplinary action for the same reasons as other licensees do. Disciplinary procedures, a full list of disciplinable causes, and unlawful acts are available here HOUSE BILL 2550
On April 3, 2023, Governor Hobbs signed into law HB 2550 which adds a new registration for eyelash technicians. We are aware that there are many questions about what this means. At this time, we have not received an effective date. Once we receive additional information, we will make it available. No additional information is available at this time.
